Burnout has become a very common phenomenon in this hectic and competitive world we live in. Hours long work shifts and very strict deadlines are very harmful for a professional who is trying to achieve success in his professional life. However, we can’t work as we want by leaving the deadlines aside. However, keeping in mind the importance of maintaining a good and healthy work-life balance is something we as professionals must do.
Handling a burnout starts with recognizing that we are in a burnout situation. Excessive fatigue, lack of motivation to work, feeling like your head is full due to work, not having new ideas, not being able to keep your mind in one place, things like taking a little break for our own good, and reviving our mind and body are released by our body. signals.
I do a lot of work everyday, I think that taking a break when you feel tired is not a weakness. It’s like charging your phone again when the battery runs out. Taking a break like this is a good strategy even in a fight. Even Vikram Rathore of Jawan took such a break. It is not a waste of time to spend a few minutes walking outside, drinking a delicious drink, or putting the phone on flight mode for a while to get rid of burnout.
Not only that, if we want to maintain a work-life balance, the most important thing is to keep boundaries. For a while, I thought that checking and replying to emails as soon as I woke up in the morning and working late into the night were very good professional practices. Then what happens is to work hard without knowing, without art. No food, no tea, no bath, hugging a computer. Therefore, we should keep clear boundaries between our work and personal life. If you get too much work to do, saying directly that you can’t do certain things is also keeping boundaries. When we set boundaries for ourselves about when to finish the job and when to start the personal life, we get time for leisure, hobbies and spending time with the people we love.
The most important thing is, if you feel that it is difficult to cope with burnout, it is not a weakness to ask for help. That’s strength. If you feel that you are in such a situation, you can tell a trusted friend, you can seek the help of a psychological counselor, you can tell the HR at the workplace or your boss. Now many organizations are thinking about the well being of their employees. If you are in a place where you don’t think like that, it’s time to go somewhere else. Doing whatever it takes to get rid of burnout is not a defeat in professional life.
I will tell you some things I do to handle a burnout. These solutions may or may not work for someone else. Post what you do as comments. I would like to know.
01. Try to spend at least 20 minutes a day outdoors. Taking Lucky for a walk. Going to the beach. Going out at the weekend. If it’s a rainy day when you can’t go out, plan the next day to go out.
02. Recalling happy old memories. Looking at pictures and videos. listening to songs I watch one episode a day from my favorite teledrama. Being with animals, friends and family.
03. Soiling at home. Closets and bookshelves that have grown are being tidied up.
04. Remember to drink tea and take breaks while working. Take breaks no matter what you are doing.
05. Annoying, they say they can’t accept the work of clients who struggle to push my boundaries. Only work that can be done with passion, attention and enthusiasm is accepted.
06. Delegate as much work as possible. I used to try to do all the work by myself. But after starting to delegate work, I realized its value. I learned that there are people who work better, prettier and faster than me.
07. Digital detoxing. Some chats have been muted. Some of them are archived. Do not look at the phone after a certain time at night. A vacation is a vacation.
08. AI support is taken as much as possible to make schedules and plans for monotonous, daily work. I try to plan everything in advance, then less time is spent in vain. I spend every spare second doing the things I love. He sleeps well for about 8 hours a day.
I will say more if I remember. 🩵
